Our puppies go home at 8 weeks old. 

At Hensley Homestead Dachshunds, we specialize in breeding healthy, well-socialized Dachshund puppies—but we do not guarantee adult size or weight.

While many of our puppies grow to be within the miniature range (11 pounds and under at 12 months of age), some may mature slightly larger. This is completely normal and can be influenced by a variety of factors, including:

• Genetics
   
• Diet and nutrition
   
• Exercise levels
   
• Hormones after spay/neuter
   
• Individual growth patterns
   

Just like in people, there can be natural variation—even among littermates.
👉 Because of this, we cannot and do not guarantee that a puppy will remain miniature in size.

Our top priority is always health, temperament, and proper development. We’re proud to offer puppies who are not only beautiful, but also loving and well-adjusted companions—regardless of their final adult size.

Yes, each dachshund has a 1-year health guarantee with a signed contract. 

Yes, all dachshunds in our program are AKC registered and Embark health tested.  All puppies come with paperwork for registration PET ONLY. FULL AKC is offered to approved breeders. We reserve the right to deny FULL AKC.

Need delivery beyond our local area? We offer safe, USDA-certified ground transport through our own service: Hensley Pet Transport.

Puppies travel with care in a climate-controlled vehicle, with cozy bedding, regular potty breaks, and one-on-one attention.

We charge $1.25 per mile, round trip, based on the distance from our location in Wallingford, KY to your address.

📍 Example:
If you’re 200 miles away, the total fee would be:
200 miles x 2 (round trip) = 400 miles
400 miles x $1.25 = $500 transport fee
